I thought it might be fun every once in a while to shine the FreshySites blog spotlight on a small business that I think is doing an amazing job. So today I’m going to write about one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Binghamton–South Side Yanni’s. It’s located on the corner of Vestal Ave. and South Washington Street (on the South Side of Binghamton). A couple years ago, when I first moved to Binghamton (from Endwell), I decided to finally give this place a try. I had seen it and wondered about it many times before, so I figured I had nothing to lose. It had gotten some great reviews online as well.
Ever since that night, I have gone back to Yanni’s many times, and have encouraged family and friends to do the same. It’s everything you want–the environment is casual, clean, well-lit, and full of character with high ceilings, beautiful wood everywhere, and exposed brick walls (the above picture is the inside of the restaurant, courtesy of www.yelp.com). The service is exceptional. Seriously, every time I have gone there I have been blown away at the level of service I have received. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel welcomed and taken care of. Two essentials in my book when it comes to how you should feel in a restaurant.
And finally, my favorite part of all: the food. Yanni’s offers an amazing variety of items on their menu, from classic American bar food to delicious sandwiches, to daily comfort-food-style specials, to one-of-a-kind, gourmet burgers, to specialty Greek fare–they have it all. Their wings are out of this world delicious as well, and they have a wide variety of flavors to choose from. I would have to recommend the honey garlic, personally, but every flavor I’ve tried there has been great. Last but not least, I can’t write this post without mentioning that I believe Yanni’s has the best tuna melt in the Triple Cities (and I consider myself a connoisseur of such things. Seriously, I love tuna melts). When you taste how good the food is there, and you think back to how much you paid for it, it’s almost shocking. Their prices are super reasonable, but their food is exceptional–a combination that I can get behind any day!
If you’ve never tried South Side Yanni’s, you need to put it at the top of your to-do list. Whether you’re going out for a drink with friends on a weekend night (I forgot to mention that their bar is really classy and nice-looking), out to lunch, or looking for a tasty dinner, Yanni’s will not disappoint. There have been countless times when I’m in a group and we’re trying to figure out where to grab a bite to eat–we don’t want to spend a lot, but we want delicious food that will satisfy the various cravings of everyone in the group–and whenever we decide to go to Yanni’s, we’re so glad we did. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
