November Breakfast Bytes Seminar
Topic: “Is There Still Room for me on the Internet?”
Speakers: Carol & Pete Yeager, Gearcor, Inc.
Location: Greater Binghamton Chamber Office, Metrocenter 49 Court Street, Downtown Binghamton

About the Seminar…

The wild, wild west of their generation is the Internet. In the early years, it offered anyone with initiative a national forum to showcase their product, service, or idea. So, news bloggers to small retailers and big dreamers like Carol and Pete (the speakers) “opened up shop”, competed and succeeded. During this seminar, Carol and Pete will offer anecdotal stories about how and why their business caught the wave and flourished, how they managed the early growth, and what the future holds for Internet entrepreneurs like them now that big players are muscling their way in with big dollars. Do they adapt or die? Is it survival of the fittest? They will also discuss burning questions facing rugged net pioneers: Is Amazon.com the Walmart of the Internet? Does anyone ever look at page 2 of an Internet search? Is Google really a code name for “Big Brother”? All this and more…don’t miss it.

About the Speakers…

Carol Yeager and husband Pete have spent their adult lives chasing the American Dream. Life dealt up some interesting experiences along the way yet the key to success was often reinvention …sometimes on a daily basis. Carol, with Pete’s web design skills, opened an online retail store in 2003 in what had been the nursery of their home. Sales exploded and the ride began. The original store, www.muckbootsonline.com, specialized in outdoor sport, gardening and work footwear. They added socks and gloves then branched into a variety of unique market niches, including commercial safety equipment and even fashion rubber rain boots! Now Carol and Pete manage several online stores under the Gearcor, Inc. banner, www.gearcor.com. They recently purchased a building in Conklin, NY to allow for business growth and development. The Internet is always changing and even in the wake of their recent expansion, foresight, and ongoing adaptation are necessary for survival.
